Photograph one of the planets most phenomenal wildflower displays. Every Spring (Aug/Sept) South Africa’s Northern Cape transforms into a spectacular carpet of floral colour.
Though blooms vary year to year, there is always something special to photograph, from the iconic West Coast National to the sweeping orange fields of Namaqua land, this tour is designed for photographers seeking natural beauty, expert guidance and unforgettable imagery.
Capture vast floral carpets, dramatic landscapes, quiver trees at sunset and under the night sky, during the vibrant colours of spring — all while travelling in comfort through hand-picked locations.

Date: Mid August – mid Sept is peak season, it is recommended to book as early as possible to secure accommodation.
Last Minute Bookings: Flower Bloom locations and densities vary year to year, if you’re open to any accommodation, booking late has its advantages

DAY 01: Pick-up in Cape Town travel north along the Atlantic Coast to West Coast National Park.
Focusing on the Postberg section (only open Aug/Sept). Shoot wide-angle landscapes, carpets of daisies, dirds and lagoon blues. Seascape sunset. Overnight: Langebaan / Yzerfontein (boutique guesthouse)
- DAY 02: West Coast National Park Full-Day Flower Safari Overnight: Langebaan / Yzerfontein
- DAY 03: West Coast → Nieuwoudtville (“The Bulb Capital”) . Scenic drive into the Bokkeveld Escarpment. Visit the Nieuwoudtville Wildflower Reserve and the Hantam Botanical Garden for rare bulbs and endemic species photography. Late afternoon shoot at Nieuwoudtville Waterfall, capturing dramatic basalt cliffs. Optional astrophotography session featuring quiver trees (weather permitting). Overnight: Nieuwoudtville
- DAY 04: Nieuwoudtville → Namaqualand. Early-morning shoot in the quiver tree forest. Travel north into Namaqualand, stopping at farms and roadside reserves known for dense flower carpets. Check-in and rest, followed by an afternoon session among granite boulders and daisies — classic Namaqualand. Overnight: Kamieskroon / Garies
- DAY 05: Full-day exploring Namaqua National Park: Skilpad Flower Reserve for iconic orange and yellow carpets. Advanced composition workshop; leading lines, foreground interest, colour management. Overnight: Kamieskroon / Garies
- DAY 06: Namaqualand → Clanwilliam / Citrusdal (Cederberg Region). We move south into the rugged Cederberg foothills, transitioning from Namaqualand desert blooms to fynbos biomes. Visit Ramskop Wildflower Garden overlooking Clanwilliam Dam. Afternoon exploration of rock formations and blooming valleys. Sunset portrait session among fynbos and sandstone cliffs. Overnight: Clanwilliam / Cederberg lodge
- DAY 07: Cederberg → Cape Town (Farewell Shoot). Morning shoot in the Cederberg foothills. Slow travel back to Cape Town via small farm reserves and mountain passes known for beautiful seasonal displays. Tour ends with a shared image review and final lunch. Drop-off: Cape Town International Airport or hotel.

SPRING – AUG | SEPT
The wild flowers start to bloom from early August, up north near the Namibian Border. Goegap Nature Reserve and the town of Springbuck, Port Nolloth are the places to visit, which requires at least a week.
The bloom slowly spreads south getting to central Northern Cape (bulb capital) by mid to late August. End August to mid Sept it peaks in West Coast National Park.
This is a general as each year the intensity and locations vary. But what remains consistent is it starts early up north and later down south.
Spring colours reach Cape Town in Sept and stay until late October. The overberg and surrounding Western Cape have beautiful landscapes at this time too.
