WHEN TO VISIT
WHEN TO VISIT
This is a year-round destination, but each season has its own strengths depending on whether you prioritising birding or wildlife.
Dry Season (May – October)
Best for: wildlife density, predator sightings, clear visibility
This is the prime safari season, with animals concentrating around water and vegetation thinning out — perfect for clean photography and high-impact sightings.
Expect:
Excellent big game viewing and predator action
Lower humidity and crisp light
Peak elephant activity in Chobe (especially Aug–Oct)
Green Season (November – April)
Best for: birding, breeding colours, dramatic skies, fresh landscapes
The green season is ideal for photographers who love birds and atmosphere. Migrants arrive, landscapes transform, and skies can be spectacular.
Expect:
Highest bird diversity and breeding behaviour
Lush, vibrant scenery and dramatic storm light
Wildlife still excellent, but more spread out
